Camping is allowed at designated camping areas, marked with yellow dots in the map. There are also open cabins at Skrattabbortjärn, Tärnettvattnen, Tärnettholmarna and Näskebodarna. The cabins contain beds for 2-12 peoble and are open for all visitors year round. The cabins can not be booked.

The High Coast trail

The High Coast Trail is a hiking trail between Hornöberget at the mouth of the River Ångermanälven and Varvsberget in Örnsköldsvik. The trail passes right through the national park between Käl and Näske. The walk is rather demanding, with large differences in altitude. One of the main sights of the national park is the ravine at Slåttdalsskrevan, which you will experience midway along the trail. There is a cabin at Tärnätt vattnen where you can stay overnight.

Slåttdalsskrevan

Slåttdalsskrevan is best experienced by entering from the south. Follow the path from Entrance South. Climb the Slåttdalsberget to the north of the ravine. You will have a magnificent view from there during your picnic. You can return to the car park via Tärnättvattnen and Näskebodarna.

Tärnettholmarna

Tärnättholmarna is an alternative for those who do not like uphill slopes. It is reached from Entrance North. Make a detour to the beard lichens (signposted from the path), and the cut-off sea bay at Salsviken, where beavers live. Tärnättholmarna can also be reached by boat.

Skrattabbortjärn

This small lake is at the centre of the national park. A small stand of Hardfern grows beside the path between Skrattabborrtjärn and Fjällävdalsmyran. Norrsvedjebodarna at Skrattabborrtjärn
once had about ten summer farm buildings. Today, there is a cabin where you can spend the night, and a meadow to camp on.

Nylandsruten

and Långtjärnhällorna

From the national park´s western entrance at Nylandsruten, you can walk on well-marked trails to the viewpoint at Långtjärnhällorna. From the flat rocks, you will overlook the main part of the park, and the beautiful valley between Mossaberget and Stampberget.

Winter

Cross-country skiing through the sparse pine forest in the central part of the park is a wonderful experience. The excursion begins at Entrance West (290 m.a.s.l.), and is best on hard snow in March - April. You can spend the night in the cabin at Skrattabborrtjärn.
